OUR MISSIONARIES |
La Mission Inc. is a small ministry with a big heart. We are striving to attain the Heart of God, but we have a ways to go. Below is a list of our missionaries, their families, and a brief description of what they believe the Lord has called and equipped them to do. |
Rev. Robert E. Swann with his wife Silvane and son André. As reported on the HOME page, Bob is our director and the founder of La Mission Inc. Bob and his family are currently raising support and getting ready to sell their house to become full-time in the ministry. All of the Swann’s fundraising efforts for the first ten years went directly into the ministry and the work of the Lord overseas. Currently Silvane does housekeeping at a large hospital while Bob helps a friend periodically with his painting business. Bob also is a pastoral candidate for Frontenac Baptist Church in Titusville, FL. He also performs some janitorial duties for a medical clinic in the evenings. Pray for the Swann family that they would get more speaking opportunities to further the work of the ministry and raise their own support so Bob could more fully follow the Lord’s call. |

Don and Christine Ames have been serving the Lord full-time since 1996, and with La Mission Inc since 2001. Both Don and Christine came to the Lord later in life after failed marriages, but once they realized what Jesus had done for them they decided to serve Him fully. Christine came to the marriage with four children while Don has one. All of the children are now grown and three of them have children of their own. Don has worked in the consruction trades all of his adult life, including owning his own electrical contracting business for sixteen years. Don worked with his father, a general contractor, for several years, and also built their own house which they sold in order to begin in ministry. Don now feels led to use his diverse experience for the Lord by doing construction projects for churches, ministries, Christian hospitals, and Christian camps all over the world. |
Christine also has a diverse background, though it is mostly in the clerical and retail fields. Several times she would start a new job by working through a temp agency and after showing her intelligence and ability to learn quickly, she would be hired full-time and promoted. Since marrying Don in 1992 she has helped build their home, cooked and done laundry for various work teams and routinely done the clerical work for several ministries and now for La Mission. Don and Christine feel called to serve the Lord by traveling all over the world doing construction-based ministry and encouraging God’s laborers. They live full-time in an RV which gives them a comfortable way to travel and a place to live at all of their stateside projects. Check out their web site for newsletters and more: www.Ames4Him.com |

Justin and Brandie Gambel with their children Timothy, Daniel, and Melody. Justin is a gifted evangelist and is currently attending Appalachian Bible College working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and Theology. Justin is also working in the evenings as a chaplain at a homeless shelter in Charleston, WV, and doing a little freelancing as an auto mechanic. Often on the weekends he will be seen on the streets leading a small ministry team from the college or a local church in street witnessing. He feels the Lord has called him and is still equipping him not only to do evangelism, but to teach others how to share their faith. Another aspect of their ministry outreach is a Discipleship Training School with printed materials from Source of Light Ministries. This correspondence school is growing with eight students currently enrolled. Brandie is a stay-at-home mom involved in homeschooling all three children, along with helping to grade the lessons from the Discipleship Training School. She does earn some grocery money by working for a telemarketing company taking inbound calls and logging the orders on the computer right from their home. Pray for Justin and Brandie to have strength and wisdom to balance the responsibilities of family, homeschooling, college, work, and ministry. Pray also for their support so they can do more ministry. |
